Welcome to Ladybirds!

In Ladybirds, every day is an adventure! Here, children lead the way—following their curiosity, asking big questions, and discovering the magic of the world around them. We believe in letting little explorers take brave, safe steps as they grow in confidence.

Come rain or shine, we’re outside having fun—jumping in muddy puddles, chasing the wind, or setting off on woodland adventures.

At The Oaks Nursery, learning is play, and every moment is a chance to wonder, laugh, and explore- we welcome you to come and join us.

In January, we have enjoyed building dens together, working as a team to create cosy spaces using fabrics and natural materials. Even the rainy weather has brought opportunities for fun, with water play that has encouraged curiosity and lots of laughter! The children challenged themselves by creating large-scale obstacle courses and worked collaboratively to design and build big structures using loose parts.

Indoors, we have spent time coming together for group activities and games. Parachute games were a big hit, supporting listening skills and cooperation while building core strength. Circle times have been an important part of our day, helping children develop their communication and language skills as they listen to others and build confidence speaking in a group.

We have shared many language-rich stories together, encouraging the children to join in with repeated phrases, and talk about characters and events. Alongside this, the children have been developing their early writing and fine motor skills through playdough disco, ribboning and large-scale drawings on big paper. These experiences help build the foundations for mark-making in a meaningful way.

Social development has been a strong focus as the children continue to learn how to play together, take turns and build friendships. Through imaginative play, the children have explored different roles and storylines, developing their language and creativity.

We have also been delighted to welcome new children who started in January. The children have enjoyed creating self-portraits for their Key Group displays, celebrating their individuality and helping them feel a sense of belonging. Our new starters are settling into the Nursery routine, becoming familiar with the environment and building positive relationships with both peers and adults as they begin their Nursery journey.
